Headlight question - late/early differences?

Hi,

 

I have recently had to replace a headlight unit but the new one I got (which I was told was a late unit) doesn't seem to fit the same as the one already on the car. The plastic bezel around the glass doesn't seem as deep on the "new" light so I think I may have been given an earlier one by mistake.

 

The part no on the glass of the headlight in question is 001-133 061.

 

2 question:

 

Is this an early unit? and If so can I replace the glass and the bezel to make it fit correctly?

Yep, the only difference is the glass lense and the plastic trim surround.

I've got the same problem, managed to source a late one to go on.

there was also a difference in the reflectors as well, some had black ridges inbetween the two reflectors and some where silver

I've only ever seen that on reflectors people have painted themselves.

I've just spoke to VW and I've order the bits I need to make my headlight "late" style.

 

536 941 115 A - glass lense (nearside) - £33.57

535 941 177B - plastic trim (nearside) - £22.43

535 941 119 - gasket - £5.06

893 941 125 - clips (9 in total) - £1.29 each

 

 

It's going to be quicker than sourcing and getting a new one delivered.
