Temperature indicator stuffed on instrument panel

Recommended Posts

I'm on my second instrument panel and I'm deeply narked...

When I bought my Corrado a year ago the coolant temperature gauge wasn't working (temp on zero and flashing warning light) but everything else was behaving fine and so I didn't worry about it. However, I found a decent second hand instrument panel on eBay and bought it, only to discover that this one didn't work either. And yes, I did replace the temperature sender, check the fuses and wiring - my local garage tells me that the unit in the panel is burned out, and that this is a common issue with Golf/Corrado instrument panels. Grr!

Annoyingly, I don't know anyone else locally with a Corrado that I can try my instrument panel on.

Has anyone else bumped into this problem? I do wonder if there's something causing the burnout, but I'm buggered if I can work out what it is.

Cheers

a temp gauge unit from a passat will swap into your Corrado cluster, no need to source a whole new corrado dash.

My greater worry is why both units - the original and (apparently) its replacement died. it's either an unlucky coincidence or something beyond the instrument panel is causing it.

That said, you wouldn't know the part number, would you?

the 2L cars have the same 70 litre tank as the passat, so use the same 15 gallon fuel/temp gauge module in the dash, part no: 357919045M
