help! there is a mouse trapped in my wing mirror!!!!!

Recommended Posts

every time i adjust my drivers side wing mirror it squeaks as though something is gradually dying in there.

the options are as follows

1. the mechanism needs stripping down and greasing

2. somebody has trapped a mouse in there

any ideas on whether i can strip this down and either remove the mouse or give it a good greasing?

jim

Mine does that too. Easier than stripping it down, keep the windows up, and stereo on if necessary, then its not a problem!!

jim, yes you can take this apart but getting the glass out is a bit tricky. You need to fabricate some broad (spreads the load) 'hooks' out of thin sheet metal - a 90 degree bend. Hook round the back of the mirror and apply gentle but firm pressure. The glass has a plastic frame glued on the back which clips into the drive mountings on the motor. The clips should let go & release the glass. There are 2 wires on the back of it for the heater element. You can then remove the motor assy & give a lube

hth

:salute:
