02m clutch / flywheel

Recommended Posts

Not Corrado related, so I'm not sure if this is in the correct section or not??? :confused4:

After putting close on 9k on my passat daily drive over the last 5 weeks, it's starting to get a little cantankerous! The flywheel is starting to get noisy, and I'd like to get it (and the clutch) changed before it fails catostrophically!

It's a PD130 sport. So has a 02m 6-speed box using a 240mm clutch (afaik). I'd like to get rid of the dual-mass flywhel and convert to single mass, but cant really seem to find a suitable conversion kit. There are loads out there for the 5-speed 228mm clutch, but nothing specific for the larger 240mm. I know the 180bhp 1.8T's and 110bhp Tdi's share the same flywheel/clutch. But what I'm trying to figure out is if the 225bhp TT (etc) 6-speed clutch + flywheel will fit my passat???

They are both 240mm and have the right 6-bolt pattern on the flywhel itself......logic would say that if the 228mm kit is compatable between the lower powered 1.8T's and TDi's the 240mm would also be?

This is the sort of kit I was looking at: http://fourseasontuning.com/?product=593

Any ideas? 8)

Hi mate - yeah I've been looking for a similar solution for the Corrado TDI as that also has the 02M 6 speed box...

You right it is a 240mm clutch and originaly I thought you could just use a G60 fly and VR6 clutch but as you say above, that doesn't seem to be the case for the 6 speeds...

Be interested to see what you find out...

It's a tricky one to find info on alright!

I've found a few theads dealing with it, but nothing definitive yet! These guys seem to suggest the 240mm TT flywheel will fit though. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=137115&page=2 (I don't see how a 240mm flywheel will match with the smaller Vr6 clutch plate though?!?!)

I cant seem to find the flywheels on vagcat to compare. Clutches:

TT etc: http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/au/ATT/2001/229/49/2879183/

TDi AVF: http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/PA/2001/226/49/2840012/

Different part numbers on the clutch plate itself

Well....I got a reply from the guy at Four-season-tuning. Doesn't really answer the question at all though!

I will have to cross reference the parts that fits a 02m transverse

mount and compare to your car? give me a few days.

in the usa we never got a 2003 passat with the tdi option. and the

1.8t kits looks like this. the 1.8T passat used a 01e type trans

notice the raised step on flywheel and different throw out bearing.
