newbie timing chains?

:help: is there any way of telling if timing chains have been done other than paper work have had a search but came up with nothing thanks alot

Not really. Take the rocker cover off and inspect the chains, upper tensioner, pad and guide. If the car has a solid plastic upper tensioner pad then it has been changed, if not, inspect the pad for wear.
