Corrado 2.0 16v Starting Issues

Hi, new to the forum.

 

I have a 1994 Corrado 2.0 16v (9a engine code).

 

The problem is that every now and again, the car starts but then immediately cuts out and wont rev. It fires and starts but then within 2-3 seconds there is no throttle response and the engine just cuts out. No rough/slow starting. Its happening more regular lately. It runs eventually, but sometimes you have to try it 30-40 times before it will start, each time it starts, runs for about 1-2 seconds then stops. Then all of a sudden it will start and run fine. It never cuts out once running, only when trying to start it. Feels like fuel starvation or something.

 

Anyone got any ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :confused4:

Traced it back to the ignition ring. cleaned and lubed the connector and seems to have sorted the problem.
