Brembo 4 piston ford/peugeot/seat/fiat etc

does anyone know which callipers are the same as the seat ibiza cupra R ones? iv searched and theres mentions of other callipers but no detail.

 

my main interest is are the callipers from 406 v6 or a fiat coupe 20vt the same caliper (and fitting) as the seat ibiza stuff?

All I konw is that the brakes on my Dad's old Pug 406 coupe were awesome, but having looked into sourcing them, the ain't cheap :(

Dont know if they are the same but most stuff just needs different mounting carriers.

well i can get the 406 ones and fiat ones alot cheaper than the seat ones, i wanted the ones that fit the seat carriers because of ease really.

If you are able to add a bit more detail as to what you are trying to do you may get more responses. Are you looking for 4 stud/5 stud? Which disc size(s) are you considering?

 

Various Seats of different ages came with 312,318 & 323mm discs. The calipers differ from the 312 vs 323 kits. If you get the option order them with Ferodo DS2500 pads as these are a lot better than the Brembo pads. I think you need to be looking at Seat based kits to get even close to the carrier specs you will need.

 

Alternatively if you are on a 8v/16v motor consider upgrading the fronts to 280mm G60 brakes?

 

Brembos are a lot of money these days but are well worth the investment if you know you're going to need the capability. With a 8v/16v I'd probably go for the 305mm or 312mm kits as those cars don't carry the weight of the VR6

hi sorry im a bit vague.

 

it was a g60 (so 280mm 4 stud) but now with a 20vt in, im also lookin to do track days and nurburg this year plus big breaks look cool ( :lol: awful reasoning!!) so i was looking into the 305mm discs from a 4 stud seat ibiza with the brembo 4 pot calipers and carriers they come with as as far as i know theyre pretty much a straight fit to the g60. i was just wondering whether the same calipers were used on any other car that might be cheaper or easier to source.

 

also do you know what model year ibiza this setup is from and whether its just the cupra R its from or the cupra too?thanks

No but if you want expert advice I can recommend contacting Bill at Badger5.co.uk as he also specialises in and sells some of the cheapest Brembo conversion kits in the UK. Top fella.

 

Don't forget if you go to 305mm disc setup you'll need at least 16" wheels. Good luck

ok thanks, i think i know wot im gonna do now, and yea its cool i got 17", theres a fair bit of clearance between the spokes and the current brakes too so hopefully shudnt need too much fiddling to fit the brembos. thanks for the help.

The Fiat and GTV brembos are both lug mounted, so you'd have to create your own mounting bracket, which isn't too difficult but a hassle. The Seat ones you can use with the Seat mounting brackets. :D

thanks KIP that was the answer i was looking for! haha. i ended up figuring that was the case! so im looking for porsche/seat ones.

 

i wudnt have any trouble making the brackets, so if i cant get the porsche/seat ones for a good price then i will make my own. but itd be easier.

 

i also pretty much guessed that the ibiza i want hte brakes from are about 1999-2003? any expantion on this would be great, and also if they leon 323mm callipers are the same or diff to the ibiza 305mm ones. thanks

get yourself some porsche boxster 3.2s rear calipers.

you can use seat 305mm discs and seat caliper carriers.

thats what im putting on my corrado.

yea thats wot i was planning to do but finding them for the right price is a bit of a pain. i love ur build thread its awesome.

 

wots the part no's on ur calipers?

 

also could you tell me the pitch between the two mounting holes on the calipers as i can get some megane ones that i think are mounted the same and may work if the hole pitch is the same as the seat/porsche ones.

well i shud have some porsche brembos with me 2moro, so thanks for the cad drawing of the brackets, i think ill end up making them instaed of buying the ibiza brackets cos theyll be cheaper!!! have you made these brackets yet and tested them? is that for a 305mm disc?
