My new Corrado, well almost

Recommended Posts

Well not really new as I bought it a year ago but never really got into driving it.

I bought it on Ebay with a knackered gearbox with the intention of fixing the box and selling the car on.

A few weeks after I got it all sorted people started going on about credit crunches and VR6 prices just seemed to plummet so the car has been sitting for the last 8 months unused on my driveway.

As it was after buying it and sorting the gearbox, this is at the Edinburgh ScottishVAG meet in April 2008. Last time I really used it

Well that is until last week when I decided it needs to be used and the MOT is about to run out anyway.

So battery needed charged and tyres were all flat. But after charging the battery and a wee drive round the block all seemed well enough :) .

Wasn't even damp inside or any mould so cant be any leaks :) .

Now I remember why you would want to own a VR :D

Right foot seems a bit heavy in this car compared to my others :D :D

Anyway got it in for mot last week, Mostly failed on brakes and lights and a tyre.

Plans for now are get all the little stuff sorted for the MOT and a few other niggly things like

The heated rear window has never worked.

The sunroof has the non sliding but only tilting problem.

The gearknob is really tatty.

Loads of swirl marks in the paint.

Passenger side rear arch needs dents sorted and painted.

Front splitter is broken.

And then get it lowered.

This wee post is more to inspire me than anything else and too make sure I dont leave it so long again, so please forgive me if it goes on a bit or not too interesting

I also found a couple of relays so modified the dipped beam loom, one relay per side so that I don't lose my headlights on a dark twisty road if a relay goes :rthumb: Only problem is my dipped beam is now better than my main beam :bang: need to find another relay.

Also fitted a new heated rear window switch and temperature sender for the gauge, funny how all these little things add up to spoil driving a car, also bought a new gear knob but need to modify it to fit as they stopped making the one for my car, not even listed on etka any more :bang:
