rs200f40 0 Posted December 23, 2003 Hi, Just bought a G60 last week and I'm not sure if this is a problem or not. When I drive the car the water temperature guage never moves off the stop unless I'm stuck in traffic for a while. I can drive 50 miles and it won't even move, bought a new temp sensor yesterday to try and found when I was sitting in traffic on the way home that the guage does move. Went all the way up to 110 and oil to 120  before I could find a safe place to stop and found the socket on the cooling fan had broken and fallen off :( fixed that now. Is it normal for the temperature to be this low during normal driving and only increase to 90 ish when in traffic? Thanks Alan.
h100vw 0 Posted December 23, 2003 Does your G60 have an oil cooler? My Golf runs in the white except in traffic in this weather. The oil gets to about 80. I have had to cover up half the radiator and intercooler to get some heat inside the car. The oil on G60s does get hot in traffic and they tend to run pretty warm most of the time. Providing it comes down, once you are on the move I wouldn't 'sweat it'. Gavin
