mrbeige 0 Posted April 7, 2009 Had a request from one of the guys at work, adn was wondering if anyone could help? I’m having trouble finding an automotive connector and think you (or your VW friends) may be able to help….. I need the female half of the connector which fits to our Citi Golf connector. It seems that we (Pi) can’t find a distributor of the connector which is required to make up a test loom. The connector has 55 pins and was used on BMW, VWs, Audis extensively in the 1980s. I expect even your corrodo has one. The same connector (male) appears to be on the Megasquirt you have played with. Can you see if you, or any of your forum friends can identity where I can get the female side of the connector. I expect some company must be offering these parts for people who want new looms built. http://wiki.diyefi.co.uk/index.php?title=BMW_E30_Megasquirt_%26_Wasted_Spark_Conversion http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/trouble_shooting/20vpin.html I’ve search Google for the part number (and any combination of it) but I’m struggling to find anything. As this connector was probably used in the mid 1980s to 1990s I expect nobody stocks this any more. The websites I’ve found for updating the ECU (e.g. mega squirt) which plug into the loom of 1980s/90s BMW/VW/Audi seems the best bet. (see above) Connector is a BOSCH and part number - 1928 401 304 Can anyone help??
Supercharged 2 Posted April 8, 2009 What's actually the issue then dude?? Can VW not get them as it's not that old? Bosch list it as £7.91 per unit but you'd get it cheaper being trade and / or buying in bulk...
mrbeige 0 Posted April 9, 2009 Well, we have a project at work for a motorbike ECU that will be based on our VW Citi Golf ECU, just struggling to get the plug. Do you have the VW part number? Just something the resourcing guys can use to ask...
Supercharged 2 Posted April 9, 2009 I don't mate but like I said it's available from Bosch in 2-3 days so not sure why they are having problems sourcing it!?! There must be a Bosch dealer in Cambridge but if you get any problems then use Colchester Fuel injection - I always use them for Bosch stuff and they always give great service.
