easy all need some gear box help!!!!

How u all doing? ive got a problem lol

 

 

i was driving my 1.8 16v baby corrado lol when i was in first gear and went to shift to second and the gear stick jolted, it moved to second and the car was still in first and is just permenntly stuck there, now u can move the gear stick but it seems like a cable or something has snapped, when u start it it jumps because its in first, im gonna get in seen to but it is bad or gonna be expensive to sort it, many thats for looking,

sounds like a possible gearlinkage problem look at the linkage just check every thing is nice and tight! you didnt have a rattely gearbox before did u?

I reckon the rectangular end of the shift cable at the gearbox end has bust, only fix is a new cable.

If you go for a 2nd hand cable try to get the type with the oval alloy end rather than the usual rectangular end with the rectangular rubber bush in it, stronger and less play in the bushing.

it was some thing in the engine on cable apparently something rubber had snapped it was dead simple!!
