MK1 water hoses

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I want to remove the OEM oilcooler to fit a Mocal oil cooler with thermostatic plate.

I know I need 2 water pipes from Golf MK1, but I can't find the partnr. on the forum.

Could anyone give me the correct partnr. to help me to order them ?

thanks

perfectly OK to have both running, the OEM heat exchanger (oil cooler) helps bring up the oil temp from cold which is why it's fitted to virtually all VAG engines of the era, you'll even find it on engines like an Octavia 1.6.

I think you need a threaded extension tube longer than the OEM one fitted with the exchanger as obviously it needs to go the extra distance through the sandwich plate to the oil filter.

On what car? - on a G60 it's best to delete as you can't fit the oil filter in there if not and this engine has no real issues getting up to temp quickly.

You can just use a hammer to make the oil filter short enough to fit....
