kongo127 0 Posted December 29, 2003 I always use 95 RON good quality gas! How much timing advance can i get in my 1990 Corrado G60 without knocking or detonation? I have a timing light to do it, so i guess it it would be easy to set it!
h100vw 0 Posted December 29, 2003 Best thing to do is read the diy section of http://www.snstuning.com. Basiscally you set the timing and then keep advancing it until the pinking starts. Then back it off a bit. As all cars are different, there isn't a set figure for the best performance. It is a trial and error thing. Another factor is the weather, pinking is going to occur early(less advance) on a hot summers day over a cold winters one. Gavin
steveo29 0 Posted December 30, 2003 you can run more timing with 98ron optimax
kongo127 0 Posted February 10, 2004 I advanced a lot the timing! Now the car is running much better! I felt the knocking and the a retarded a bit! It worked just fine! I love the G60 driving now! And the muffler is not so noisy! No more popping when i shift down the gears! But now the MFA (in the hidden mode) shows a boost of 74 at idle (normal values should be between 84 -104 readings). And the it shows less expense fuel! What does this mean? The car is running good! What can i do for this? :?
kongo127 0 Posted March 4, 2004 OK guys... Watch and learn! This was all about grounds! Problem solved thanks to Henny and all the other "Corrados"! :D *mod edit - Removed double post for you - Henny*
stevemac 0 Posted March 5, 2004 Correct timing advance for a G60 (PG) engine is 6 degrees, plus or minus 1 degree. In other words - anywhere between 5 and 7 degrees. Without the correct test equipment, it's a case of trial & error until you get it right. :? Best thing to do is follow H100VW's advice Higher octane fuel enables more advance but the optimum setting will depend on how the car is setup & exact octane rating of the fuel used.
