New Headlights

Hi

 

I know this has been touched on a few times but i was wondering if upgrading the headlight bulbs without doing anything else will be ok? I'm not technically minded (I'm more of an ideas man .... :wink: )

I've seen everyone mention changing the wiring loom etc...is this a tricky job? Its a 1990 1.8 16V if that helps :)

general consensus is that Phillips exteme bulbs are pretty good, and at the standard wattage shouldn't bake your headlight reflectors, however relaying the power feed to the lights will cure the huge voltage drop the old VW wiring suffers from, and that alone will increase the brightness of any bulbs, you can DIY this with a couple of standard auto relays and some inline fuses or buy a made up loom, either way just make sure it's well protected from the elements as salt spray does exposed relays in within one winter.

Get the Uprated loom from Kirby on here...

 

Added to Phillips bulbs will mean a massive difference!

 

I have teh loom, halfords 50% brighter bulbs and even through tinted Headlight covers still much better than stock! :clap:

Ah cool! How easy is the loom to fit?

plug and play if you get one with OEM type connectors, plus a new live and earth connection to the battery, feeding through and tying in the wires neatly would take the bulk of the time.

Dare I say it but that sounds simple enough :) I'll let you know how I get on....sorry but when you say "Kirby"....is that a user or shop or something completely different?
