Stevo-M 0 Posted May 24, 2009 My head unit wiring is a bit of a mess, and about as heavy duty as doorbell wire  so i'm just going to start from scratch. My question is regarding the main power cable, do i need some kind of interferance surpressor? The head unit has a wee black box on the power cable, is that what that does? colinstubbs 0 Posted May 24, 2009 Is that not an in-line fuse?
Stevo-M 0 Posted May 24, 2009 It's got a fuse in it, but it's also got a little circuit board and coil type thing in it
colinstubbs 0 Posted May 26, 2009 Sounds like a suppressor circuit to me but I am not really an expert. I take it the wiring you're changing is the speaker stuff as well as the power stuff? To be honest I've wired my headunit straight to the battery (with a fuse of course ) and I've not used any extra suppressors and had no problems at all. Stevo-M 0 Posted May 27, 2009 Yeah i'll be replacing it all, there's wire's with different coloured bits added on, some are too short and others just look feeble!
colinstubbs 0 Posted May 27, 2009 I'd go for it and just add a suppressor if needed. The only problem I've had was fixed by disconnecting and re-connecting rca leads - winner!! 8)
