Rewiring head unit

Recommended Posts

My head unit wiring is a bit of a mess, and about as heavy duty as doorbell wire  so i'm just going to start from scratch. My question is regarding the main power cable, do i need some kind of interferance surpressor? The head unit has a wee black box on the power cable, is that what that does?

Cheers

Sounds like a suppressor circuit to me but I am not really an expert. I take it the wiring you're changing is the speaker stuff as well as the power stuff? To be honest I've wired my headunit straight to the battery (with a fuse of course ) and I've not used any extra suppressors and had no problems at all.

Yeah i'll be replacing it all, there's wire's with different coloured bits added on, some are too short and others just look feeble!

I'd go for it and just add a suppressor if needed. The only problem I've had was fixed by disconnecting and re-connecting rca leads - winner!! 8)
