Possible to replace handbrake caliper seal in situ?

Hi all,

 

I've sprung a brake fluid leak from the handbrake lever on one of my rear brakes (C VR6). Is it possible to remove the lever and hook the old seal out without removing the caliper from the car? I can't find a diagram on t'internet showing which side it's fitted from )

From playing with calipers in the past, I don't believe you can remove the handbrake mech from the caliper.

Ditto. Pretty sure it's pressed into the caliper body at the factory.

Why not replace the caliper? I've got one I was going to refurb that I'd be happy to send you for just the postage. Which side do you need?

I have rebuilt a few MK 2 golf rear calipers some time ago(over 12 yrs ago). I seem to remember that once you have pop the piston out and removed the ratchet system, that you can remove the handbrake lever shaft. But getting hold of a seal kit may be a problem, and if you pop the piston you should replace all the seals. I know I may not be any help, but I can give you a phone number of someone that was my master, if he doesn`t know it, then its not worth knowing.

That'd be very kind of you! I could rebuild it off the car then and swap it over, no hassle )
