Pat_McCrotch 0 Posted July 6, 2009 Right, in preperation for my MOT on Wednesday I'm trying to get the near side headlight sorted which despite having a new bulb wasn't working on full beam on the near side. I therefore decided to change the loom inside the light. However, despite being what appears to be a fairly new headlight it appears someone has beaten me to it and now after changing the loom again I now have ZERO lights on the near side and hence I'm now panicking because I'm fast running out of time :( Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? :(
carter711 0 Posted July 6, 2009 Could very well be the switch, If it's a late spec car they have a different switch which can be unreliable, the early ones have a Mk2 Golf switch which is very robust. A new (secondhand - I believe VW have discontinued them) switch sorted my headlight problems on my 1995 VR.
Critical_Mass 10 Posted July 6, 2009 Cant see it being the switch if the lights ARE work albeit only on one side. Is it an aftermarket loom or factory? I had this issue on my last MOT it was the relays that had water ingress. :( Replaced them and all was fine.
