which G60 front pads Mk4 rears answers please

Recommended Posts

hi i`ve been trawling through the forum about which pads to use on my 16v with G60 front brakes and Mk4 rears, the disks, pads and calipers were put on 18months ago and have been fine until now.

i`ve settled on Mintex 1144 all round so pretty obviously i need G60 pads up front but its the rears i need to know what people have fitted.

corrado pads are 15mm thick MDB1382, i know these will fit as when the conversion was done the normal pads and disks were used but i`m not sure whether i should use Golf Mk4 pads which are 17mm thick MDB1377 as i read the pedal feel can be a bit long when using the thinner pads especially as the discs are not new and have a mm or so wear into them, i know the Mk4 will fit although some people have had to shave a mm or so off the pads to get them in.

so come on people tell me which to go for!

cheers

ben

i just used standard corrado discs and pads on the rear, but everything was new.

although it took ageees for the brakes to feel any good to me, my handbrake was still a bit naff for months afterwards

yeah i read your posts very good, they are the same price so i just dont know which to go for - edging toward the mk4`s i dunno why tho lol

disks are just standard ones and they are fine for another set so its just the pads i need

also i dont imagine i need 1144 on the rear some cheaper ones would prob be fine but might as well if im ordering the fronts too

Decent rear pads will make a difference, when I changed from OEM to Pagid FR on the rear there was a marked improvement in braking. 8)
