johnxl1s 0 Posted January 14, 2004 after sitting in morning city centre traffic for roughly 20mins and go to pull off at lights etc the c only pulls on what it seems like half a cylinder then onto to say two or three cylinders then onto full power but is hestatant(spelt wrong),this happens when sitting in city centre traffic for more than or thereabouts 10/15/20mins, when the engine is heated up ..2L 16V, it freqently does not kick into full power until 4000revs anyone any ideas. Guest Posted January 14, 2004 might be the engine drawing in warm/hot air from the engine bay, instead of through the grill, thats why it clears up when you start moving. do you have an induction kit?

johnxl1s 0 Posted January 14, 2004 thanks for the reply, yes it is when the engine heats up, the heat shield is removed(the alumminum cover thingy) could it be that, where is the sensor.

chris CORRADO 0 Posted January 14, 2004 i duno where the sencor is if it tis that i thourght it might be the sencor what tells the fueling system how much air/fuel ratio and a given timing to give to the engine.... b4 the ECU
johnxl1s 0 Posted January 14, 2004 hi chris, jus as a matter of interest, my car seems to be the same as yours (2L 16V with the 9A engine) does it go well or are you contantly having engine tuning, how well does it drive ..ie ..steering etc.
chris CORRADO 0 Posted January 14, 2004 mines fine 2.0l 16v only like you said in this thread powerloss only happend one time ever in the poweing rain going up the slope of a multistory carpark the car did not like it ..... so i switched off the car and started it again and it was fine ( mind you i was very worryied about it coz it all of a sudden lost like 90% of power *pedal to teh floor and takes like 10secs to get to about 4,000 revs now it's fine perfect stearing whines but work nicly ABS works (light its not working thou....getting fixed couple of days)
Guest Posted January 14, 2004 wht is an induction kit do ummmz, induction kits replace your air filter, the problem is that the air filter takes a cold air feed from the front of the car, were as an induction kit has 360 degree intake, so takes it from the engine bay, you have to add a cold air tube to get cold air to the filter from the outside of the car, if you are stationary this doesn't work, as the air isn't pushed in/through the tube, and so the induction kit can only take hot air from the engine bay, this will drastically affect the power
johnxl1s 0 Posted January 14, 2004 got it fixed, air traffic problem thankyou
