Not being silly, but suggest we move all conversation re the meet to the thread. I'm ok with possibly moving the date into November myself, but we need to discuss it with the people who are already expecting to go on the 13th. Maybe we could even have two meet ups (if meeting at the Tidy VAG on 8/11 isn't already enough!

By the way my chariot is now finally back on the road. The car is a very distinctive light grey (flat) coloured VR6 with matt black wheels & mirrors. If you see it around town make sure you wave & flash your lights! I'm mostly around central Bournemouth/Westbourne area. Mostly... Apologies in advance if I'm driving too fast to wave back, LOL

Guys I'm going to have to bail out of the Tidy-VAG meet this Sunday. I've had a bunch of unrelated problems with my car in the past 3-4 days, including a driver's door which doesn't open (broken link to the catch) and an ignition barrel which stranded me in Broadstone last night.

Apologies, but hopefully will be ok still for the Smugglers Haunt event still.

Hi, been reading this old thread with interest as it mentions my old 16v corrado (k933 VPC) residing in the Bournemouth area circa 2009.

I'm really chuffed to hear it was someone elses pride and joy and I hope it's still in fine condition, I owned the car for about 5 years from 2000 until late 2005 when I sold it to a garage in the yeovil area.

This car was my absolute pride and joy, I spent £1000's keeping it in tip top condition, re spray, de locked and colour coded etc etc etc. I was an active CCGB and Elite 1k member and attended loads of shows and meets and won a show and shine at GTi inters one year and several other meets with the car.

Keen to see what she looks like now if anyone knows of it's whereabouts. I was pleasantly surprised to hear it was still localish to me in Hampshire.

Does it still have the original engine?

I no longer am in the car club scene but be great to hear from anyone!

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Cheers,

Willsy.

Is that the same "Willsy" who used to live in Andover? PM me if so.

Hi Willsy,

I can't vouch for the last 8 months, as my friend who owned it sold it on when a VR6 took it's place. It was sold to a young lad who was very excited to take it away.

Before that, it was owned by one of my friends, then sold to another friend totalling around 2 years of ownership(roughly between 08-10). Both loved the car and put a lot of money into keeping it running. It resided in Bournemouth for most of this time as we undertook our studies down there. I personally put a lot of blood and sweat into this car, as, owning a VR6 for the entire time, you gain a bit of mechanical understanding of them. In the first year it did have a few problems, but from what I've heard it's now very good. It was very well looked after (also no expense spared like yourself) and made a nice, raspy note, plus I was informed the suspension fitted to it (was this you?) was a very good (and expensive) setup, making it a very capable car. It certainly gave the VRs a good fight, I was also told it had a lot of work on the engine and was around 160 bhp? Not sure if this is the original one or not, it had a red painted rocker cover.

I hope this helps, my friend (the last known owner to me) is but a phone call away should you wish to know who owns it now.

My friend who owned it first was always keen to say how mint the paintwork was and that it was original, I'd feel bad telling him what you've just mentioned thoug!

Cheers,

James

Hi James,

Thanks loads for the info, really glad to hear it's been looked after since I sold it, it was a great car which I was very sad to see go but at the time needs must and I was in the process of buying a house and couldn't afford to run it.

I'm really surprised it ended up in bournemouth as I used to live there way back along having also gone to uni there!

How many miles did it have on the clock when you last saw it? As I recall it had about 110k when I sold it so any less than that and I reckon it's definitely had an engine swap at somepoint.

Nowadays I drive a Type R civic which is great fun but nowhere near the head turner my corrado was, one day I will get another to do up though!

Once again thanks for replying, it's been awesome to find out about my old motor!

John M - yep it is I Willsy from Andover, how you doing matey? It's been a loooooog time!

Cheers,

Paul

Sounds like the engine was a rebuild then mate, the engine was certainly quiet and I believe there was receipts for engine work in the history. You'll be pleased to know that since owning the red car, both of my friends now have VR6s in their driveways, so it really started the Corrado fire burning. If you were going back into C ownership I would suggest getting the VR6 (or G60) variant. I think the Type R is a great motor, the VR6 is very comparable performance wise to it!

It had just been treated to a stainless manifold to go with the exhaust and decat system, really sounded great after this. It had some multi fit alloys on it that were very quick to go, the 2nd owner replaced them with a set of audi replica alloys which really looked the part.

I think the clock was reading around 140k when I last saw it, around 10 months ago.

I have shamelessly found some photos on my friends Facebook for you to look at!

Hi James,

Cheers loads for the photos, apologies for taking so long to reply to you...it's been hectic and I've only really dipped in and out of the forum.

Have a great weekend and who knows our paths may cross at somepoint...I'm tempted to come to a corrado/vw meet soon to catch up with some old friends!

Cheers

Paul aka Willsy
