2L 16V owners - do you recognise this ?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

My car will not start and I am having real problems fixing it! :(

It turns over but does not fire. Ive done the LED test on the hall sender and it is operating correctly. I thinkj its the ignition module that I need to replace, however, ive taken it to VW and they say that it is not a VW part! Apparently my ignition module is supposed to be mounted next to the ECU, well mine is on the ame bracket as the ignition coil ! Ive attached a photo, can people confirm that their Corrado either does or does not look like mine, and if not, where is your ignition module ? Also, anny suggestions as to where I could source a replacement ?

Many thanks

Phil.

Hmmm, that looks like a oem VW plug on it but does it look like its been 'bodged' onto it??

no, it doesn't look bodged at all. the bracket looks propperly manufactured (laser cut and spot welded to coil bracket) and the module is riveted to the heatsink on the bracket. There are no markings or VW part number on the module tho :( .

I have seen one on a 9A Passat. I think it is an aftermarket replacemen,t for the std Ign Amp. I haven't looked on ETKA but you can prolly use one of another VW. It won't look the same though.

Gavin

EDIT the part number for the original should be 191 905 351B a MK2 bit.

I remember the ignition amplifier on my old 2.0 16v needed replacing and I had to get a whole new coil as it was all one unit. Think VW were asking about £140, cant remember how much i eventually got it for.
