Mr Ben 0 Posted December 29, 2009 the fuel gauge seemed to be stuck at quarter of a tank and after driving for a while I realisised it hadnt dropped at all, i pulled over and turned the engine off and back on again and the gauge was then reading level with the red indicator (low petrol) bar. since then i have put petrol in and it raises slowly and sits at the begining of the red bar and goes no further anyone have any ideas whats causing this? any help would be amazing thanks Ben
volksworld13 0 Posted December 29, 2009 the fuel tank sender unit could be faulty, i would take it out and manually move the sender up and down, the tracks are know to wear over the life of the car, you can also check this with a multimeter , on ohms, to see if you have good continuity and as you move the sender up and down the resistance will gradually increase and decrease, any skips in the track when tested will indicate a faulty sender, or try and borrow as dash as a substitute, and test, id check these two first before checking and testing the wiring , its the easiest. :D
