VR6 Strange electrical buzzing

Recommended Posts

Guys

Bit of a strange one...Got a buzzing noise coming from the VR6, it sounds electrical but im unsure. The symptoms are as follows:

- It happens constantly when moving and when stationary. Turn off the ignition it stops.

- Seems to be coming from outside the car not inside (although you can hear it in) as louder outside.

- Seems to be coming from underneath at the rear (i know this is the engine section but not sure where else to ask, mods please move if needed).

- I notice the pitch changes very very slightly as you turn headlights on/off.

- Car and everything on it is running fine.

Any ideas? Really stumped.

Cheers

No heated seats (I wish ;-))

I'll check out the fuel pump, thanks Mark.

Any more suggestions?

Easy way to check if its the fuel pump os take the cover off inside the boot then pull of the electrical connector and see if the noise is still there when ignition is on. Fuel pump would normally be a whine more than a buzz.

Had Cornelius at German Auto Engineering in Portsmouth check the car today.

Fuel pump is ok, the noise is not loud enough to be a sign of a problem. Had the pressure checked and its all ok. Fuel filter and a fuel pipe was replaced and the car is now running much better.

Thanks
