VR6Pete 0 Posted February 27, 2010 Hi all! Just about to start off on my Corrado rebuild! The sound deadening foam on the inside of the bonnet is totally shot - It just falls to bits to the touch - whats the best way forward with this? Is is easy enough to remove totally - ideally I want to keep the OEM look so wondering about replacement foam? Thanks. Pete
RW1 0 Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) Use a plastic scrapper, being careful with the paintwork. Brush on lots of White Spirit to remove the adhesive and leave soaking. The VW foam deadening kit was still available at VW last July for chassis 50MK011397 onwards which covers VR6. ie, the bulbous bonnet. Price £84.37 + VAT. Contains a kit of self adhering pre-cut pads - 5 off. Part number: 535 898 123A. When fitting the foam pads, make sure you've got it aligned up right cos they are hard to get off and adjust :) . Supercharged 2 Posted February 27, 2010 Yep, and make sure your engine mounts are good and no oil leaks before fitting the new stuff!
