new rad switch thermoswitch doesn't fit?

have no idea whats going on.

 

I bought a rad switch from here:

didn't fit snugly with the switch plug.....so I convinced myself it was because I bought a cheap part and should've gone to VW dealer.

 

So off I went to a vw dealer and got the part.....it does look slightly different.......but it still doesn't fit snugly???

 

the switch plug doesn't go right down so that the side plastic clip bits connect.

 

What the hell??

 

could it be that I still don't have the right part? Or maybe I need a new switch plug as well?

 

There doesn't seem to be anything stuck in the switch plug that would prevent it from going on properly :scratch:

Hmmm they do change stuff with sensors (like the oil housing ones) so you have to modify the plugs but not heard anything with these...

 

Does the part number match the old one? Pics would be good - new vs old
