VeeDub Geezer 0 Posted May 17, 2010 Ok, for a while now locking the car on the key has become a game of luck it will lock perfectly one time, but only lock the drivers door the next. The remote central locking works fine on both doors, boot and petrol flap everytime so this discounts the pump in the back as being faulty. Is there a replaceable switch on the handle? Could it simply need cleaning up? Thanks Aaron
volksworld13 0 Posted May 17, 2010 there is a microswitch in the door handle, you can only replace the handle complete, about 60-70 quid from the dealer.
VeeDub Geezer 0 Posted May 18, 2010 So if I got hold of another handle (which has a ruined thread for the securing screw) I couldn't use it for parts?
Supercharged 2 Posted May 18, 2010 No not really.... the cables corrode at the handle end and break off - you could have a look by withdrawing the handle carefully but if it's old they may just fall off. New door handle is the only real fix
VeeDub Geezer 0 Posted May 18, 2010 Ok. I've just been clearing out my stash of parts and found a good handle from when we changed the locks to a set that uses one key and ordered a Daves16v kit so I can fit and forget… that's my Saturday afternoon gone then  Thanks guys
