Engine oil

Recommended Posts

Right heres one for you boys, recently my car feels like its been tryin to launch the engine out of the engine bay, it only happens in first gear when tryin to take off not if your rollin and it doesnt happen in reverse either?!?!?!

So i changes the box mount and the engine mount is relatively fresh(about 6 months) but its still doin it so i thought i would investigate the nick of the box, i know the clutch is super fresh by the way, went to look at the oil by removing the filler plug(checkin if it was full or not) and something that barely resembled oil came out in fact the stull on the filler plug looked like this mayo you always assosiate with head gasket failure which is water mixing with oil, how in the name of god could this be happening in the gear box?????

Could it just be well abused gear oil ran the course of its life??

Any ideas guys?

well, as a first off, CHANGE THE OIL!

Also check that the front mount isn't loose or anything daft like that... It's possible that one of the bolts has come loose.. may also be worth checking the rear engine mount, as you've already said you've changed the other 2... 8)

Yeh i think an oil change in the box might be a winner plan, you dont rekon its anythin to worry about?

I rekon i might have to go change the other engine mount, is it a total bitch? I've noticed it was more expensive than the other ones, i bloody knew id have to for out for a new on, typical corrado eh

the only way you'll be able to tell if the box is goosed is if you drop all the oil out and sift thru it for metal debris... I'd stick some new oil in it, see if that helps, then check it in a couple of hundred miles to make sure that all looks OK... 8)
