imyhamid 0 Posted July 11, 2010 Hi all I've got a sunroof question for you all, I have had a search on here but I cant seem to find the answer. Well the sunroof on the corrado broke last week. The passengers side cable thing broke. Managed to pick up a passat estate sunroof up today. The thing is I don't know if I fancy putting the glass roof into mine but I wonder if I would be able to remove the glass replace it with the panel from mine and just use the passat's sunroof frame after I give it a good grease up. If anyone can give me some assistance that would be great. Cheers in advance, Imran
nick vr6 0 Posted July 11, 2010 If you do that you'll see the inside of the metal panel, as the passat roof doesn't have the sunroof headliner that the corrado does. Also the passat mechanism won't lift the sunroof headliner. As the passat sunroof has a sliding sunshade, I don't think there'd be room for your headliner to fit in as well, might be wrong there though... imyhamid 0 Posted July 11, 2010 Cheers mate, The only reason I asked was that everything I have read about fitting the Passat moonroof is that at speed there can be some wind noise. Would I be able to dismantle the passat roof and use the parts for mine? Or is there a way of making the glass roof fit that little bit better by using washers or something??? nick vr6 0 Posted July 11, 2010 From what I've read, when you closed the sunshade, wind noise is reduced anyway. I ran mine briefly with a knackered headliner, and you got wind noise from the standard roof. It's suprising how much the liner mufles the sound. I think that the sliding mechanism is different in the passat, as it has no "arms" to lift the headliner. I was looking at a golf sunroof for parts, and they're different unfortunately. Out of interest, where did you get the sunroof, as I need on for mine, as it's knackered.
imyhamid 0 Posted July 11, 2010 Picked the sunroof up of some old geezer who was breaking the car, he turned up in a nice vr6 passat estate. I'll have a word with a mate and see if he can give us a hand fitting this I am unsure though I might sell it, If I do I'll give you a shout before I put it in the for sale section.
