missfire when maf is pluged in

Recommended Posts

a 9A KE system 16v 2.0

ok so if i plug in the black box in on the side of the MAF (2 pin lead) it starts but then after 30 sec's it will only run on full power or ticks over at 200 rpm will not pull , so if i then unplug the black bolck after stoping it , it runs sort of ok a bit ruff .

also if i plug it in as the motor is running it slals then this round gray thing thats in the fuel line it seams, clicks like crazy

i have cleaned all the earths , reset the ecu , changed the ht pulgs+ leads , dizzy and rotor , if this keeps up i will just solder a switch in :camp: , but don't with to resort to that

I hope someone know what's up with it , I dont

Well at a wild guess I'd say your MAF is not working properly. iirc they will run with it unplugged, albeit roughly like you describe. You seem to have replaced everything except what seems to be giving you trouble so have you tried another maf? There's got to be a second hand one on here somewhere in a breaking thread to avoid you paying full whack for a new one.

What would you solder a switch in for? VW designed it to work with all those components so bypassing the problem is like cutting your hand off to stop your finger bleeding. It may stop it, but you won't have full functionality.
