How do you remove the speedo cable?

Does anybody know how to remove the speedo cable from the top of the gearbox on an early 16v? Ive been loosening and loosening the big bolt but it doesnt seem to be going anywhere :?

you need to hold the plastic speedo worm gear with i think 24mm spanner

 

try see if the worm gear pops out

What plastic bit do you mean? The bolt ive been loosening is the fat one

sorry dude been away,

yes the big nut is the one to loosen but if its goosed youll have to remove it by loosing off the black plastic one(one below the big one!)
