abs rings

Recommended Posts

hi,

finally found the cause of my brake problems and just wondered if you can buy the front abs rings (92 g60) seperately ? or do they only come with the hubs?

cheers!

You can buy on their own mate - just a pain to fit though as you'll need to do the bearing too IIRC

They are bent I assume?

yeah the guy who fitted my wheels fitted the wrong locking wheel nuts (too long)and they pushed through and bent the rings, making it rub on the sensor so need new sensors too!! nightmare!!!!

just found an old post from will, back in 2006,about his bent abs rings, someone on the forum mentioned bending the rings back, so that they stop catching on the sensor, his post got locked, and was wondering if it was an option to try and bend mine back :? do they have to be exact, or just enough to get it from catching on the sensor?

cheers.

the air gap between the sensor and pic up is important, you can try and straighten it ,and retest

ah excellent, ok,i'll give it a go later, whats the best thing to do, just try and get a bar behind them and push them back a little?

I had a problem recently with with the ABS light staying on - theres a thread about it - but after fitting the new sensor, it was clear that the abs ring was slightly buckled and would rub on the end of the sensor.

I used a thick ( 'ish ) screwdriver blade between the abs ring and the caliper-monting lug ( positioned at about 2 o'clock if you imagine the sensor is at about 10 o'clock ) to gently bend it back so it didnt rub.

Gently and gradually would be my advice.

Good luck.
