exhaust questions

just want some information regading exhausts and mot's....

 

i have a 1990 16v and would like a custom exhaust made up, but before i do i need to know a couple of things: because its a 1990 model does that mean i dont have to have a cat and if i dont have a cat will the car pass its emmissions test when its mot time?

I think id like a straight through exhaust, what do most people go for? id like it to increase powerlevels if possible but also give a bit of noise as my car is so quiet atm!

Any info would be good regarding exhausts, cats, and mot's!

No cat required as you say its pre 1992, plenty of people do this and still pass emissions. There's still noise limits to think about if you're going for a straight through.......

cheers chap, iirc the limit is something like 98db right? if straight through is going to be too loud whats my best option, de cat pipe, 4 branch manifold and standard back box?

That sounds about right. It might be fine noise wise but no way tell unless you know someone with a similar system? you could always have a box fitted afterwards to quieten it down a bit

youtube is going to take a "corrado exhasut" battering this afternoon :lol: ill just try the above setup and change/tweak things as appropriate.

 

Anyone got one of these?.....
