passat rear handles

been trying to fit handles this afternoon,probelm is they won't lock or unlock,have used white plastic sleeve off old handles,this doesn't seem to be long enough to push lever down,what am i doing wrong,help

have you fitted the passat mechanism too

yes,looks like handle has had the striker bar cut any relevence,help needed
