rallyeman 0 Posted February 21, 2004 Lately the clutch in my rallye is being a bit weird, sometimes it has freeplay until only just above the carpet - very low biting point, other times it feels perfectly normal, minimal freeplay middleish biting point. I took the car to VW and they said nothing was wrong, but the clutch cover/pressure plate might be in the way out. I found this strange as I thought a symptom of this would be slipping clutch, not the low biting point and clunking gerachanges that I experience. When I went out in it today it was fine for 30 miles, but then started clunking on gearshifts occasionally. It got much worse just after I had been caning it for a few miles at high speed. The pedal was dropping almost to the floor and not really disengaging the clutch properly. It stayed like this for about 15 minutes, then returned to normalish. It still had a tendency to clunk when changing down through the box. Any ideas? When it first did this I tried bleeding the clutch system, this didn't seem to have much of an effect, maybe slight, but any effect was not permanent. The fluid level in the reservoir does not seem to drop at all either as you might expect if the slave or master was leaking. What do you think?? thanks in advance. Supercharged 2 Posted February 21, 2004 Probably slave seals going, causing the clutch not to engage fully.
