crazymarcel 0 Posted February 22, 2004 Is it ok to disconnect car's battery when sat in garage and car's not in use, will it damage the ecu or anythin? After a week's non corrado use, the battery struggled to start today and think the alarm must be zappin part of the battery. So is it cool to disconnect battery for long period's of time with no adverse effects? Thanks,
Supercharged 2 Posted February 22, 2004 Should be fine but may be better to get a trickle charger, Draper do one i think
Henny 0 Posted February 22, 2004 Mine's now been dis-connected for about 6 months due to lack of engine ( ) but there is no reason at all that you shouldn't leave the battery off for as long as you like... The only thing that will happen is on a VR6, your ECU will reset, so you'll loose any error codes that were stored in it... (like that's a problem  )
Spykee 0 Posted February 22, 2004 mine has been disconnected for over a year now and mine is fine so as far as i know you shouldn't have any probs! when i put a trickle charger on the battery the connectors would get so hot i couldn't get them off without scalding my hand! i don't think this is normal but everything else seems to be ok!
