I've been hearing about this on the news for the last couple of days:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12600284

Young women could face big increases in the cost of car insurance, if insurers are told that they have to stop quoting different prices for men and women

The European Court of Justice will decide whether it is a form of sex discrimination which should be banned.

Well I've always wondered how insurers could get away with blatant discrimination based on gender (...or postcode!)

Can you imagine the uproar if insurers refused to insure someone based on their skin colour, because they were statistically more likely to have accidents?

i'm waiting for all the premiums for men to come down by a good 20% when the discounts women get are shared between both sexes, but somehow i'm doubting its going to work that way..
