Groaning when turning at a specific point

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has been asked before, I've done a quick search but not found anything exactly like this. The wife mentioned a noise on her way home from work when she came around a left hand bend. I took the car out for a spin and into a car park. Was doing lock to lock turns and on full lock going in either direction it was fine. Maybe half a turn from full lock there is a groaning noise but only when the steering wheel is actually turning. It does it also when turning right but not as much. It only seems to make the noise when the steering is in a certain range. Anyone any ideas?

I havent checked the power steering fluid level yet, could it be rack related?
