Exhaust heat sheild

Recommended Posts

Hi guys after having my exhaust done a month or so ago my car developed a nasty rattle as the shield corroded around the backbox and was flapping around. Anyway as a temp measure I got the exhaust place to chop the backbox section of heat shield off. Now the centre section has begun rattling too!!

Anyway does anyone know how much vw charge for a new heatsheild? Does it come in separate pieces or is it one big piece from the cat/downpipe?

Thanks

Abdul

Hi mate, the heat sheild is in seperate pieces, the one above the backbox, another in front of the fuel tank above the centre silencer and another section down the tunnel.

If you look at this pic. you can see the fixing washer, these are still available from vw,not sure about the heatsheilds themselves.

If hole has gone to big for this fixing to hold try using a large washer, hope this helps you out.
