Basic maintainence is key. If the previous history is a mystery do a tune up, change all filters, oils and brake fluid, check the cooling system, hoses, thermostat, radiator, etc, suspension, brakes and vacuum lines. That should keep you busy for a while. Then consider the timing chain, clutch and gaskets. 15+ year old cars need TLC, but once everything is sorted, you'll love it.

hi cheers for the reply, i'm getting told that the g60 were a better car, well after spending a couple hundred on a chip and new pulley.

but i really fancy the noise of a v!

are there any particular probs i should look for when buying, like known rust spots??

Both are good cars once matainence is performed. The G60's week spot is the charger. With a pulley you will need a rebuild every 60-90K miles. The VR6's run hot so the cooling system and wires suffer. I had to change my fan harness a while back but the car has been bullerproof. It's a 93

with 110,000K miles. Look for rust around the back, rear emblems and fuel door.
