Surrey/S.London Auto Electrician? relatively urgently!

Recommended Posts

Following on from my previous thread I had a good look at the wiring that leads to my headlight switch and the brown wire has melted its coating for as far back as I can see, almost a foot!

I was looking to replace the melted part of the brown cable but it goes too far back. I think at somepoint the car had an uprated loom fitted and I think that is what caused the damage. I'm very suprised the car hasn't gone up in smoke!

Obviously at the moment I can't use the car at night as I don't want to risk it, and even though I don't use the car for work it is a major priority to get this done!

I'd like to get in touch with an auto electrician who can build me the set up that Fishwick posted the diagram for.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it'd be mush appreciated, I thought I'd ask on here before I start contacting random numbers on the internet!

I live near Croydon.

Thanks.

You could try Andy from Trim Wizard. He mainly does alarm work and fixes various trim. But his site also lists auto electrician work. He did a great job on installing my new alarm and more relevantly on removing the various old alarm bits left over from previous installs.

He knows Corrado's quite well (he used to own one), gets a lot of recommendations on here, and comes out to you (I live not too far from you - near Kingston - and he came to me).

I just called Andy and he was really helpful! I asked him if he could build me the diagram and he said it may not be necessary. He said that the brown wire is only there to illuminate the switch (so not really needed) and rather than paying him to re wire the headlights I could just snip out the brown wire and go with out switch illumination. Which for the moment is fine by me!

Thanks Portent, so helpful!

I'm going to do this as a quick fix and rewire a new fused feed in when I have the time.
