vr6 cutting out when warm

hi every 1 im new to all this so here goes , i have a l reg vr6 and the other day whilst drivig on the m way it just cut out , ive replaced the plugs,crankshaft sensor and the coil pack it ran fine 4 a day and then it went again 2day ?? ive been told it could be the cam shaft sensor/engine speed sensor ....has n e 1 had anything simlar ?? n e help is greatly recived thanks scotti

Sounds like you've been told right. Same symptoms as mine.

Try cleaning the isv first before replacing any other parts.

hi all, the car will still not start it has now had ,coilpack,crank shaft sensor, new plugs, and a new impulse sender non of wich have worked :( ,is there any way i could do a fault code read on it ?? im at aloss now n have no clue were to go ......auto electrition ?? n e suggestions guys??? cheers

Take it has the fuel pump running?

 

Check there is a spark.

 

Cylinders not flooded with too much fuel. Take plugs out an let it breath.

 

Battery power OK and cranking voltage across the battery terminals is above 10 volts otherwise the ignition starts to shut down.

 

Will it start and run if the throttle is held halfway during starting?

hi again all ....... finally found out my problem it was the coil pack .... does n e 1 no what the solid black wire does on the coilpack plug ?? pin 5 i think ive traced it back onto the loom and its pin 40 were my problem is were thinkin a break in the wire , if n e 1 could shed some light on this 4 me it would be a big help .....much love

Its the ignition +12 volts supply to the coil pack.

After the engine plug pin 40, goes directly to the back of the relay plate on plug G1 (White connector) pin 4. From there it internally picks up the internal ignition 12 volt busbar. That is supplied from the ignition key switch directly, so to check that this works quickly, put into reverse gear and the reversing lights should come on. This proves the ignition switch is working and putting 12 volts onto the ignition busbar in the relay plate.
