Rad Fans not working - Can't find wiring

Recommended Posts

I was driving home today and as i got in traffic noticed the coolant temp jumping up. Normally sits at about 90. Pulled over and realised i could't hear the fans. I had just picked the car up from the garage (new clutch fitted) so hoping that its just a case of the switch/sensor not being plugged in. But as i went to open the bonnet realised the cable has come away from the handle so unable to get the engine bay just yet.

Question is i need the car tomorrow. Will it be ok (motorway all the way) if fans are not kicking in?

personally i wouldnt simply because if you get stuck in traffic on the motorway it will cook itself fairly quickly (well my VR gets toasty after a long blast!)

is it a VR6 / G60 / 8v / 16v....?

if its a VR6 then check this guide on how to test everything:

Its a VR6. Before i can start testing i need to get the bonnet open.

Ok managed to get the bonnet open and found there is nothing plugged into the fans.

Had a look around and couldn't find the wire the plugs in anywhere :-(

So can someone point out where it comes from? I assumed it came off the same loom as the switch that goes into the radiator but couldn't find anything on or near that loom.
