Load reduction relay clicking with no key in ignition.

Recommended Posts

I'm going mad over this.....

With the key out of the ignition and i'm stepping on the brake pedal or activating the indicator arm the load reduction relay is clicking, AND the rad fan turns on. When releasing the fan stops..........?

Try unplugging the ignition switch... especially if it's not one of the new black ones

They fail inside and things like this can happen.

Could also be a weird earth issue.. anything been installed recently like an uprated headlight loom / alarm etc?

maybe the wiring to the fusebox is kinked and running behind brake pedal or something, causing it to short-circuit when you push the pedal down?

Either way, if you need a new relay I have one from when I bought my ign switch. brand new VAG which cost £13(!) I'd be happy to send it for £5+postage.
