Once the OP has a box sorted, I would be in the market for a great condition airbox that has no holes drilled in it.

Does it still give that horrible roar that a cone gives?

I think that's the point of drilling it. No holes in my one...;)

It does have a slight roar but nowhere near that of a cone filter, the one I have also comes with a near new standard filter

Yeah that will be perfect and the holes are an easy fix.
