My new Rado. Im back! (A few questions within.)

Recommended Posts

After two years out of a VW I took the plunge and bought another Corrado.

Its a 1996 2.9 VR6 in (schwartz?) black with Cream leather Recaros. The previous owner has taken real good care of it for the last 6 years including a full respray, brand new headlamps, indicators, fogs and all new door, window and tailgate seals.

So heres the pics after a good wash and polish this morning, sorry about the rubbish iphone quality pics.

It does have a few issues which I need to sort out, the passenger door lock is stuck in the locked position, meaning the door cannot be opened. The pump kicks in and unlocks the drivers door, fuel filler and tailgate but the pin in the passenger door starts to move then sinks back down to the locked position. The pin cannot be pulled from the inside (it is firmly stuck down.) I have unplugged the central locking pump and tried to operate the lock but again the pin starts to rise but then sinks back into the door. If anyone has any ideas about how I can fix this please let me know. I dont really fancy attempting to remove the doorcard with the door stuck shut. My only other idea was to find the vacuum pipe where it enters the door near the hinge and fire some compressed air down it to force the actuator up.

I also have a few questions regarding coolant temperatures. When driving at a steady speed the coolant temperature sits at the line above 70*C. When stationary it rises to roughly 100-105*C before the fans cut in. Is this behaviour normal (having never driven a VR6 rado before I have nothing to compare to.) The oil temperature sits between 96*C and 104*C

Any help on the above questions greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Bryn.
