Human Joist 10 Posted January 24, 2012 Hi all. I am after a bit of help. I have a 92 Corrado VR6 5 stud lowered about 30-40 mm on coilovers. I have found what I would like a set of Dare DR-RS. They have given dimensions as 8X16 ET20 front and 9X16 ET15 for the rear. Just wanted to confirm they would fit and not need to hack arches. Cheers guys
C5 OEM 0 Posted January 24, 2012 Oh no you`ll need the grinder out for those
bristolbaron 11 Posted January 24, 2012 no chance. see if you can get 7&8's or 8's all round.
Abdul 0 Posted January 24, 2012 As above, you'll need rolled arches and stretchy tyres.
VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) hi m8, i have 9x16" et 15 borbet A's on the rear and im not stupidly lowered but its ok and will only rub if theres a shed load of people in! i have semi rolled the archs tho, dont be put off you can do that yourself just becareful and take your time!, up front is a 7.5 and i cant remember the et as im also useing a hub centric spacer to clear the caliper.. owen g60 10 Posted January 24, 2012 im running 9X16 et35 Borbet A's all round on mine dont get any issues with scrubbing even the fronts are ok on the inner arch too could probs drop it a little more and still be ok too
Human Joist 10 Posted January 24, 2012 Cheers for all advice. Apparently they don't do 7.5 but I could get 8 all round I believe with a 20 offset would that sort the arch rolling issue. As I would rather not have to do it as I have just repainted car and softer the arches.
Philuk 0 Posted January 24, 2012 7.5x16 et 35( I think) and 9x16 et 15 on rear on a vr6 had to do quite alot of arch rolling on the rear and the fronts needed rolling too and I still catch on big bumps g60 and specs down have a more narrow track so don't need arch work so much! VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted January 24, 2012 yea vr6 is wide track so the offsets wont be the same compared to the other models..
bristolbaron 11 Posted January 24, 2012 yeah go with 8's et20..
Human Joist 10 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Bristol baron. Cheers for that. I take it I will get away without modifications to car as the reply seemed confident. Edited January 24, 2012 by Human Joist
bristolbaron 11 Posted January 24, 2012 All depends on your tyre choice, stock with 205/40 or 45 and you should just about be fine.. Don't go to 215!
Human Joist 10 Posted January 24, 2012 Well they quoted with 195/45/16. I take it you would suggest a 205/45/16 then.
Abdul 0 Posted January 24, 2012 195/45 or 205/40 to minimise the chances of scrubbing.
Philuk 0 Posted January 24, 2012 my 7.5 are 195/45 and my 9's are 205/40 lol depends what you want really! i rekon 195/45 would look awesome stretch on an
bristolbaron 11 Posted January 24, 2012 personally i wouldnt fit 195's to a VR as their narrower than standard tyre width. [they would look good though!] 205's will sit nice, but not overpowering.
Abdul 0 Posted January 24, 2012 Baz when did you grow up and start fitting wide tyres eh? Lol
owen g60 10 Posted January 24, 2012 205's on the rear and 195's on the front of my 9J's Stretch is quite extreme on the front but looks good :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Abdul 0 Posted January 24, 2012 Any pics of the 195s fitted? Im guessing 195/45? What brand are they? Sorry for all the questions but I find tyre sizes vary from make to make.
owen g60 10 Posted January 24, 2012 I'll take a couple of pics in the morning. I'm using Toyo proxes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Philuk 0 Posted January 24, 2012 Falcon give the best stretch on a 195/45 7.5J i find. I had Yoko S Drive and they gave no stretch and i had even more issues with arch catching! ill find some pics too if i can :) ---------- Post added at 11:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:22 PM ---------- VW Festival 2011 by Philuk56, on Flickr IMG_0540 by Philuk56, on Flickr IMG_0569 by Philuk56, on Flickr
bristolbaron 11 Posted January 25, 2012 Baz when did you grow up and start fitting wide tyres eh? Lol When I realised that this was beyond ridiculous.. And this helps gives my now much needed traction! I would run 195's on an 8 myself, but find it hard recommending it to others..
Human Joist 10 Posted January 25, 2012 Cheers for the advice guys. Will end up with 205/40/16 I think on 8's all round and hope for the best. That just means I have a set of speedlines to sell.
Abdul 0 Posted January 25, 2012 Baz, that top pic is a 195/40 on a 9 right? I'd never run that personally. What you've got now looks nice.
bristolbaron 11 Posted January 25, 2012 Yep, top pic is 195/40 9" bottom is 205/40 9"
