Captaincook 0 Posted March 23, 2004 Where is the selector, under the bonnet, or under the gear gater
corradovr6sc 0 Posted March 23, 2004 Under the bonnet, 2 cables and a metal counter weight on top of the gearbox can be adjusted which may improve the change but you can't really change the feel of the shift, it will still feel long and perhaps not as precise as some other cars. If there is absolutely no feeling of changing gear then I think I've had that problem before with a mk3 golf after I fitted a clutch in it. It's something to do with the selector mechanism. I think there's some kind of a ball bearing type arrangement in the top of the box underneath where the cables go on. I think it slides up and down to let you know you've engaged the gear. I hit the top of the box a few times with a block of wood and went for a drive and it dropped back into place so I'm afraid I don't really know how to fix it. You could give that a go though!
