Corrado 9A ecu, very strange!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if this ecu is "normal"? It looks to have 2 blobs of silicon init, and the chip on the top right of the picture is sitting in a carrier, surely this isn't normal? It looks like its been fitted. Any information would be great, only asking as I'm new to corrado's and this is the first time I've taken apart a vw ecu, many thanks

This is perfectly normal.

The component glued on the left is a crystal oscillator, the pair on the right are capacitors.... it is normal for some components to be either glued or tied to the board.

The only ecu where chips are not in a carrier are on VR6's.

You have nothing to worry about
