vr running issues

Recommended Posts

hello all

i need some advice.

This weekend got a new maf and lambda as both old and in vagcom lambda was coming up

but still having a issue. with everything pluged in the car idles very high lumpy crap and overfueling still

If i unplug the ISV revs drop runs lumpy

If I unplug the TPS it tries to find a level idles nicely

If I unplug the maf again tries to find it idle

but if I unplug the lambda it idles perfectly

in all situations the car drives badly doesn't want to rev and lumpy.

one thing we found the lamda casing been crushed (i think from when they did the water pump) so contacts in side where touching. Not sure if this is any good info.

So what i need to know is firstly does anyone have any ideas? and does anyone have the vagcom values for all sensors at idle and thru the revs

Its a 1992 vr6 with the 6 pin MAF and coilpack.

thank you in advance

Ok.... Is it the same problem as before?

Have you erased the faults after replacing the bits? If so have you checked after running?

If everything checks out fine and the only fault code you get after driving is something like lambda regulation, then I would clean the isv just to make shure and the a full ecu reset to make all the lambda values adapt.. Thats most likely your problem

before changing was running crap and high idle once in a while

codes have been cleared and battery was left off the car for a hour and still problems.

I got a feeling that the lambda casing being crushed must have shorted something in the ecu

Well when ever you disconect the battery the car will run like crap... Thats not a ecu reset.

Follow rw1's wiki page for the FULL ecu reset

well quick update

did rw1 ecu reset which made it run a lot or the running issues but still had some misfire issues.

me thinking it was a coilpack a mate told me to change the leads and the car now runs perfectly

so thank you for all your help

Good result :) Leads, MAF, coilpack and an ECU reset seem to be the gateway to VR6 happiness :)
